A Family Tradition at Hotel Annelies
The Hotel Annelies opened more than 65 years ago and has been a genuine, family-run business ever since, growing steadily over the decades. Since 2000, Anja and Roland have been carrying on the Annelies tradition as the second generation of owners.

And the third generation is already watching everything closely: Anna-Maria (born in 2005) and Louisa (born in 2009).

After the war, as summer vacationers and mountaineers discovered Ramsau—situated at an altitude of 1,100 meters—and its impressive Dachstein Glacier, the first guesthouses and hotels began to spring up.
In 1956, Matthias Schrempf and Annelies Hampel got married and bought a small plot of land. That same year, they also obtained their first license to provide lodging for guests, serve beverages, and offer hot and cold meals.
That same year, construction began on a garage and, later, on a separate apartment with the “first” double room for guests. Water is fetched in jugs from the neighbor’s well; there is still no running water in Kulm. After the municipal water line is installed, the expansion continues slowly and with great effort. New rooms are built, and beds are gradually added as well.
In 1964, the ridge across the way was purchased and leveled, and construction began on the garage for the transportation company.
The hotel was built in 1971 and 1972— though it was expanded one floor at a time. Over the years, the number of beds grew from 2 to approximately 90. Their children, Anja and Matthias, were born.
